Mental Health MOT

Delivered by a BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist

Sometimes we go through events or experiences that leave us questioning whether we’re coping in the most helpful way. Expert input can be an invaluable way to guide you back on track towards a healthier future, or simply provide some much-needed reassurance during times of uncertainty.

What is a Mental Health MOT?

A Mental Health MOT is a one-off, 60-minute appointment designed to give you space to talk through your current worries, coping strategies, routines, or behaviours. During the session, you’ll receive professional guidance and practical ideas to help you understand what’s going on and consider ways to make positive changes.

Addressing difficulties early can be really helpful. Short-term coping strategies can sometimes become unhelpful habits over time, and this session aims to support you in recognising those patterns before they start to feel entrenched.

What does the appointment involve?

Over the course of the hour, we will talk through any issues, questions, or worries that are concerning you. Together, we’ll build a personalised understanding of what’s going on, using CBT and counselling-based approaches. Where helpful, I’ll also offer guidance on practical techniques you can use to support yourself and help reduce the likelihood of similar difficulties arising in the future.

Who would benefit from a Mental Health MOT?

This session is suited to individuals who feel comfortable taking away guidance and putting it into practice independently, without the need for ongoing support. It can also be a helpful option if you’re new to therapy, unsure whether therapy is right for you, or simply want a chance to explore things without committing to ongoing sessions.

Appointments are available either virtually (via video or telephone) or in person at The CBT Space in Exmouth.

While the Mental Health MOT is offered as a one-off appointment, many people find it helpful to check in with a Mental Health MOT every 6–12 months.
